My Reflection about Using Blogger as a Teaching Tool

My Reflection about Using Blogger as a Teaching Tool

by Valery Navarro Ortiz

Some years ago, I had used this digital platform to perform a simple task in class, but I have never imagined that Blogger can be used for many teaching purposes. Learning how to use Blogger in the last classes, I could have noticed that this tool can change the traditional English classes, and become the classes more interesting, interactive, and different.

How could English teachers use Blogger to enhance students´ linguistic skills?

The use of blogs in the classroom is an amazing tool that teachers must implement in order to change conventional classes into innovative classes. Students can express their ideas and improve their writing and reading skills by collaborating among them at the same time. For example:

-Students may become the blog as a diary entries. Teachers must ask students to write informally a summary of the main points about a specific topic.

-Students could develop their critical thinking by posting comments on the blogs of the other classmates. In this way, teachers can see their improvement in reading and writing skills.

-Students can use the blog as a digital portfolio where they must their pieces of writing in order to get feedback from their classmates with the objective of encouraging collaboration among them.

As a result, blogs should be implemented in the classroom with the purpose of improving students`writing and reading skills.
